I received a copy of this on return of an honest review.
When Lucy comes back into the life of her childhood friend Jack, Lord Orton , during his youngest sister coming out in society he tries to pick up where they left off but he finds his friend who he hasn’t spoken to seven years has greatly grown up.
Lucy dreams of being a painter in her own right despite the constraints of society in the regency period. She also wants to wipe the smirk of Jack’s face when he tries to act like they haven’t spent seven years apart with no contact.
When a mutual friend decides to solve their problems by pretending Lucy is engaged to Jack’s friend George it puts Jack into over drive with looming financial problems and the rumour that Lucy is an heiress Jack has to decide whether to follow his now realised feelings or let her go.
Rachel Rowan brings the chaos of friends to lovers and she fell first but he fell harder to hilarious results.
Jack as a hero is a well meaning jokester with a bit of smugness and Lucy has the girl next door vibe.
Overall I really enjoyed it and love both Jack and Lucy with a love for mutual friend and queen of chaos Caroline Sedgewick.
